CRAIG HICKEY SHARES HIS PLAYER RATINGS FOR WOLVES 0-0 DRAW WITH BRIGHTON

A tough place to go on any day, let alone a Monday night on the south coast, so here’s how i think we performed.

JOSE SA 7

A good early claim seemed to show his authority and communication with his defenders, came off his line well. I still think his kicking is suspect. Apart from one mistimed attempt to catch a cross, his handling was spot on and his clean sheet is testament to the whole teams ability to defend and soak up pressure.

NELSON SEMEDO 8

Quiet but effective at the back, didn’t get drawn up field in his usual attacking forays. He had to be disciplined as Brighton targeted his side for alot of their attacks. A brilliant tackle early in the 2nd half stopped a certain goal, steady and reliable today.

MATT DOHERTY 7.5

As with Semedo, he had to show his experience and not get too far forward. He did break into the box early on but stuck to his defensive duties well. Didn’t put a foot wrong today.

MAX KILMAN 8

A simple and effective performance at the back, calm and simple defending which was needed against a tricky Pedro. Max used his experience with his defending, maybe a bit eager in some tackles which resulted in a yellow but you cant fault his effort and a key man in todays draw.

CRAIG DAWSON 8.5

Strong tackles, winning headers and no nonsense defending, he had to stay calm under some wind up play from the Brighton players. A massive central figure in our defence and contributed to our clean sheet with blocks, tackles and headers towards the end of the game.

TOTI 8

Along with his fellow centre backs, he was always there to stop play or final balls into the area. He grew as the game went on, even surging forward at one point but never letting Brighton make too much ground down the right. Worked well with Doc.

MARIO LEMINA 8

A quiet start from Super Mario, some uncharacteristic balls given away by him, had to work hard against a tricky midfield who liked to draw him out of position. He started to drive forward more in the 2nd half. A lung busting run ended with a blistering shot that was well saved by the keeper, a good second 45 for Mario.

TOMMY DOYLE 8

Tommy had to do the ugly work in this game but when he did play his passes there were a few that went astray. He was in the right place to clear off the line in the first half, he got more room to play as the game wore on and worked hard druing the game to stop Brighton having too much room in behind.

PABLO SARABIA 7

I found him to be lacking in his tackling which seems to show during games but there are glimpses of his clever play. Didn’t find this game easy as there was no more to show his creativity. Replaced on 68 mins.

PEDRO NETO 9 & MAN OF THE MATCH

He was a constant threat in this game, a shot on target, one just wide and several breakaway runs. He is looking back to his best and caused Brighton alot of problems. He looked our most likely threat to break the deadlock in the game. He gave a masterclass in breaking forward with crosses into dangerous areas but no-one on the end to finish them. Replaced on 87 mins, he worked so hard and for me he was man of the match.

Matheus cunha 8

His usual driving runs helped us get up the pitch quickly, received some tough knocks from Gilmour on more than one occasion. Unlucky to be booked just before half-time for protecting himself, it ended in a heated debate with the officials. Nearly scored in the first few minutes of the 2nd half. He had a chance to go around the keeper and drive on to square to Bellegarde but he went too wide and his cross went out, never stopped running and working.

jean-richer bellegard 7 (68mins)

A good appearance for Jean, helped the team when under pressure and drove forward when he had the chance.

TAWANDA CHIREWA (87MINS)

Not enough time for him to show us his development.

MAN OF THE MATCH - PEDRO NETO

Pedro Neto who created some excellent breaks forward and caused Brighton some serious problems. He was run close by Dawson today and a clean sheet could have given him the nod today.
