LUCAS SHARMA REPORTS ON WOLVES GOALLESS DRAW WITH BRIGHTON

Wolves arrived at the Amex Stadium poised to win and go to tenth in the Premier League table, as well as to get a win ahead of their Black Country derby with West Brom on Sunday.

Wolves started off slowly, with Brighton having 74% possession in the first 20 minutes. However, as the first half went on, Wolves began to ease into the game and look more comfortable both defensively, and going forward with Matheus Cunha and Pedro Neto both having big chances.

VAR also came into the game within the first half, particularly towards the end of the half and often featuring the battles between Cunha and Billy Gilmour, but Wolves were able to recompose over the half time break.

Immediately after the start of the second half, Wolves looked on form and came out strongly, with Matheus Cunha having an effort go just over the bar.

As the half went on, Wolves started attacking more, bringing more players up the pitch. Whilst this could have proved costly defensively, there were some really strong performances at the back last night, for example when Nelson Semedo executed a brilliant slide tackle in the Wolves penalty area to get the ball clear.

A huge moment in the game came when Cunha was played through by Pedro Neto to go one-on-one with the Brighton goalkeeper. Unfortunately, he took a poor touch and ended up with a tight angle which meant he could not pick up Jean Ricner Bellegarde who was waiting in the middle of the box with an open goal.

The game then finished scoreless with Wolves still lacking a main man upfront. With Chelsea star Armando Broja being continuously linked throughout this transfer window, will he be signed and offer something different in games like last night?
