The final preseason game for the 2022/23 Premier League season ended in a tie for a young Wolves team against SC Farense thanks to a second-half penalty from Hee Chan Hwang.

Portuguese second division team Farense got off to the best possible start with a goal from a curling free kick from Cristian Ponde.

As the first half went on, a Wolves team that had never played together naturally grew into the game and could have equalised inside 15 minutes. A Farense goalie error allowed the ball to fall to Hwang inside the area, where he found Chem Campbell 18 yards away. However, the winger was unable to direct the ball on goal, narrowly missing the upright with his shot.

In the opening minutes of the second half, Wolves played with more poise and came close to equalising when a defender pushed away a Bueno cross just as Hwang was about to meet it for a tap-in.

After Campbell rushed into the box and was taken down, Wolves eventually equalised  when Hwang Hee-chan converted from the penalty spot.

There was a moment when Hwang appeared to imply that Farense supporters behind the goal were making racial insults against him. Hwang, who had just recovered from a hip injury, was one of the few first team players that took part. He made his first preseason start.
